ACC and SEC Schedules, Scores and Polls
The following graphic provides the final AP Polls for college football teams that have won at least two national championships in the pass 15 years. Perhaps the graphic reveals more about the coaches than it does about the teams since the coaches were the constants. Saban's first year at Alabama was 2007. Alabama has won 6 national championships during this period and never finished a season ranked below number 10. Swinney's first year at Clemson was 2009. Although Clemson has had some ups and downs they moved from an unranked team to number 2 by 2015 and won two national championships in 2016 and 2018. Smart's first year at Georgia was 2016. Georgia moved from an unranked team to number 2 in 2017 and won two national championships in 2021 and 2022.
Going back one more year I added LSU as illustrated in the graphic below. LSU won the national championship in 2007 and 2019 with different coaches, i.e., Miles in 2007 and Orgeron in 2019. Although LSU has also had some ups and downs, they have finished in the AP top twenty11 times in 16 years, and they have played Alabama every year in the regular season. Over half of the national championships in the past 16 years have been won by teams in the SEC West, i.e., 9 out of 16 when you add Auburn's championship in 2010. Adding Georgia's two in 2021 and 2022 the SEC accounts for 11 of 16 championships over this period of time. See the link below for AP Polls from 1939-2022.
If we go back to 2006 we would need to add Florida's championships in 2006 and 2008. Florida State won two in 1999 and 2013, Ohio State won two in 2002 and 2014, and Nebraska won two in 1994 and 1995.
